I mentioned in my previous post that we had experienced free bus transport in the centres of Melbourne and Adelaide and thought both systems excellent. This article from the Guardian about diesel vehicles being banned or curtained in Bristol reminded me of the schemes.
I wonder what the cost would be to make all public transport in the UK free at the point of use? How much would have to be added to income tax to fund such a scheme?
