This is welcome news. However, what's wrong with a ban on such support right now rather than waiting until the end of a consultation period? And how on earth does this square with a new coal mine near Whitehaven and HMG's reluctance to call in the plans? One gets the feeling that there's absolutely no-one in Whitehall who is capable of forming a holistic view.
