Jottings from SW Surrey. This used to be mainly about energy but now I've retired it's just an old man's rant. From 23 June 2016 'til 12 December 2019 Brexit dominated but that is now a lost cause. So, I will continue to point out the stupidities of government when I'm so minded; but you may also find the odd post on climate change, on popular science or on genealogy - particularly my own family.

Terracycle - Great Idea for the Converted Wealthy
I've recently become aware of TerraCycle after the announcement of its tie-up with Gillette. I like this sort of scheme and already use Recycle4Charity for empty ink cartridges. I wondered what one might do individually via TerraCycle who claim to have over 200M individual recyclers on their books. Bubblewrap and jiffy bags always irk me as they are not acceptable in out Council recycling stream so I checked out TerraCycle's offering. They provide a "Package Supplies Zero Waste Box". Trouble is, at £120.49 for a small box I can't see many individuals going down this route. I guess we have to wait on more corporates, like Gillette, to fund collection schemes.
