Sounds simple, doesn't it? Actually there's a lot to commend the ETC's new report in that a focus on key actions could prevent dithering and deliver deep cuts to energise other areas.
Jottings from SW Surrey. This used to be mainly about energy but now I've retired it's just an old man's rant. From 23 June 2016 'til 12 December 2019 Brexit dominated but that is now a lost cause. So, I will continue to point out the stupidities of government when I'm so minded; but you may also find the odd post on climate change, on popular science or on genealogy - particularly my own family.

Green Homes Grant Set Up To Fail
Anyone who has worked in the energy efficiency sector could, and many did, predict that the Green Homes Grant Scheme would be an abject failure. It didn't really require a report from the NAO to set this out but I guess a little i-dotting and t-crossing is necessary. It's a pity that it just adds to the £1000 per household administration costs!

Sewage Discharge - Time My MP Received Something From Me
Dear Ms Richardson,
I note that you were one of the MPs who voted down Lords Amendment 45 to the Environment Bill. Frankly I am appalled.
Discharge of raw sewage is a disgusting activity that has no place in a modern society. A mandate to improve the situation is urgently needed.
I note that :
(1) Brexit promises said that our environmental protections would improve. How does this action square with those promises?
(2) So far this government has been long on environmental promises and short on any meaningful action. This sorry state of affairs is only confirmed by your action.
(3) Water and sewerage companies have paid out £57bn in dividends in the past 30 years. Perhaps it's time a little of that largess went to the benefit of all, not just shareholders, by cleaning up our wateraways.
Yours sincerely
